How do we describe our yoga holidays? These are some of the words that come to mind: great yoga teachers, sunshine, delicious food, good company, time to relax, swimming, massage, healthy eating, walks along the coast, dinner by the harbourside.

...and here are some of the things are guests have said:

"In a world where there is constant pressure to perform, to compete, to rush, to cram, it is almost a shock to discover somewhere to completely relax, and not only slow down but stop, and consequently gain so much. Set in the beautiful hillside above Agios Nikolaos is the Spirit of Life. A fully equipped yoga studio with wonderful sea views, and sunsets, fantastic freshly cooked food and inspirational teaching. Jonathan Cooksey, one of the guest teachers, is in a league of his own."
Kate Davies. Neck & Spinal rehab specialist & personal trainer.

" ...an amazing week with you (Kerry). I am so glad we chose to do your week, I found it made me refocus on my yoga practice and life as a whole." Debra

“ Jonathan’s relaxed and humorous but wise yoga teaching resulted in my feeling surprisingly stronger, fitter and more supple by the end of the week. Surprising because it was gentle and seemingly effortless yet quite profound. This mind and body tonic coupled with Kerry and Wendy’s wonderful hospitality and great food make a Spirit of Life yoga holiday deeply restful.  I came back home feeling refreshed, invigorated and ready to face the world.”
Cathy Williams

“I would like to say ‘Thank you’ for such a fantastic yoga holiday. It was better than I had imagined and the area was so beautiful we both fell in love with it. What made it so special was the personal attention and kindness showed by you and of course kerry's cooking".  P. & A.

The classes are suitable for both the experienced practitioner and beginner, the student being given adjustments relevant to their experience. The yoga teachers are experienced and qualified and come from various Hatha traditions such as Iyengar and yin yoga as well as more dynamic flow styles.

During our yoga retreats we have two classes per day (with a day off to relax). For the very keen there is the opportunity to take part in some optional meditation classes and maybe even a local walk. You may attend as many or as few classes as you like – the emphasis is on improvement through enjoyment.

Like all our holidays and retreats, you will enjoy great vegetarian / organic food. A hearty and healthy Brunch and two evening meals are included. You will also have a chance to enjoy the beautiful crystal clear sea, local walks or just relax at the centre.

The above price is for shared accommodation. There is a £100 supplement for single accommodation. So why not bring a friend. The cost for a non-participating partner on our yoga weeks is £350.

What is yoga it and is it suitable for me?

Here at the Spirit of Life, our yoga retreats and holidays are suitable for the beginner and the more advanced student.

We offer Iyengar yoga holidays but we also host teachers from other styles of Hatha yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice whose roots are lost in time. There are many different styles of Yoga practised. In the west when people refer to Yoga they are usually referring to one of the various styles of Hatha Yoga such as Iyengar or Ashtanga. These are physical forms of Yoga that involve stretching the body into various postures that help to strengthen and tone the body and calm the nerves and the mind. Although these yoga disciplines can lead to further spiritual exploration they can simply be approached as wonderful exercises that leave you toned and relaxed and able to cope with the stresses of modern life.
